The Kiwanis Club of Wilmington funds scholarships at The University of North Carolina Wilmington and Cape Fear Community College.
The club awards two scholarships to students graduating from New Hanover County High Schools who have been accepted at UNCW. The George H. Chadwick scholarship is $2,200 per year for four years. The runner-up scholarship is $1,100 per year for four years.. This scholarship is named in memory of George H. Chadwick Jr., who was the club's scholarship chairman at the time of his death. Applications for this scholarship may be obtained from the guidance counselor's office at the high schools. Applications are reviewed by a committee of Kiwanis members in consultation with high school personnel. Scholarship recipients are then notified and invited to attend a Kiwanis meeting where the scholarships are presented.
The club funds two scholarships annually for students of at Cape Fear Community College. Each scholarship is for $1,500. Scholarship recipients are selected by CFCC. Recipients and a college representatives are invited to a Kiwanis meeting where the scholarships are presented.
