Service Leadership Programs for Youth
Kiwanis Service Leadership Programs (SLP) are leadership and character building programs often hosted in a school or community and often sponsored by a civic organization such as Kiwanis. Service Leadership Programs have existed since the first Key Club was founded in 1925. Since then, millions of students have been inspired to lead lives of service and significance through programs for all ages. Today there are K Kids Clubs in primary schools, Builders Clubs in middle schools, Key Clubs in high schools, Circle K Clubs in colleges and universities, and Aktion Clubs to support adults living with with disabilities.
The Kiwanis Club of Wilmington sponsors two service leadership programs:
- Key Club at New Hanover High School
- Key Club at Ashley High School
Our service leadership clubs independently initiate service projects and community service activities throughout the school year. Our club works through an adviser in each youth organization to coordinate our participation with their activities or to have them work with us on major service programs and fundraisers.
We are so proud of our youth groups and their accomplishments which make our community a much better place to live.
