The Kiwanis Club of Wilmington currently sponsors three Key Clubs. Key Clubs are designed to teach high school students about the value of community service and to focus them on the positives surrounding them. Key Clubs get students involved with many community service activities. Many Key Clubbers go on to leadership positions in the Key Club organization and assume leadership positions in other organizations and communities later in life. Typically, we donate about $1,500 annually to support our Key Clubs at New Hanover, Hoggard and Ashley High Schools.
We also sponsor and support a Circle K Club (CKI) at the University of North Carolina - Wilmington (UNCW). Circle K clubs blend community service and leadership training with the opportunity to meet other college students around the world. Projects such as the Six Cents Initiative, CKI's International fundraiser that aims to provide water to the 2.2 billion children worldwide who lack safe drinking water, bring CKI members together to make a difference in the world.
